June Already!

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008
I can hardly believe that June is here and the first week is almost over. June is always a great time in the TSS offices. We see our old friends and clients returning for the summer season. We meet lots of new people coming in for a new job or starting a new business. It’s a busy time, but really fun. It is also a time for employees to take vacations and spend time with their personal friends and families. It brings about the issue of work-life balance. Those words are bandied about in everything you read these days. Everyone has an opinion and an idea of what it should look like. I must say that I got caught up in it and wondered why I was working so hard. I took a couple of Fridays off. Tried to find out what I was missing …what was all this hype about? It was no magic bullet for me. I found that by Sunday, I was ready to get back to work and to the comfort zone of my desk. The workaholic in me could not be at home for three days. I was in front of the television, waiting. Waiting to get back to what I love. Now, don’t get me wrong, I do think “balance” is important. I just happen to think that it means far different things to each of us. If my children were still at home, only working four days per week might be great. If my husband was off on Fridays, then we could take short weekend trips. For my friend, Steve, it looks entirely different. Balance for him is working from his laptop in the middle of the lake at 4 a.m. This crazy schedule allows him to spend more time with his children. Crazy? For me, yes. For Steve, no. It works well for his balance right now. But for me, balance is being within the walls of the building, hearing our friends return for work. Helping them achieve the success of their dreams is where my passion is. Ask me again in October and you might find my passion on the beach in Hawaii, but today it’s here, with my friends and colleagues. As a changepoint operation, whether it be drug screening, EKG, blood work, audiograms, we’ll be here for you. Three locations, with more on the way. On call 24/7, TSS staff WORKS for you. Wherever you go, we’re right there with you. As always ~ Safe Journeys ~ Renee
