March of Dimes – March for Babies

Sunday, April 26th, 2009
It’s that time of year again. It means spring is here when I am getting ready for the March of Dime fundraising event. My family has been involved in the walk for many, many years. We started walking in this event when my mother worked for K-Mart in Keokuk, Iowa. And that was a very long time ago! Needless to say, it is an event that I believe in and will always contribute to. Having two healthy grandbabies gives me even more desire to be certain that monies are available for research and development to assist families in good outcomes. Over the past year, I have felt the pain of two of my dear friends losing their babies. Born to early, born with birth defects. Proving that our work is not done. I know that money is tight for everyone right now. I know that we are all worried about where things are going with our economy. But I also know that while we continue to pile up debt for coming generations, one thing we can bequeath to them is the ability to prevent premature birth and birth defects. We can, TODAY, raise the funds to make TOMORROW a place with healthy babies. If you can only do ONE DOLLAR, then great. $1 shows that you place value on the future generations of the world.
